Manua reads instruction manuals and explains them. This policy says exactly what it does and does not do with your information. The short version: your list of things, your photos and your answers stay on your phone. The only thing that leaves is the manual itself, sent once to be read. There are no accounts and no advertising.
Everything you build up in the app is stored in a database and a folder on your phone. We do not run a server that receives it, and we cannot read it. This includes:
Deleting the app removes all of it. Because it is not stored anywhere else, that deletion is permanent and we cannot restore it for you.
When you add a thing, the photographs or PDF you provide are sent to Google's Gemini models through Firebase AI so the manual can be read and turned into plain language. The same happens when you ask a question about a thing or look up an error code: the question and the relevant part of that thing's manual are sent so an answer can be written.
This is processing on your instruction, to give you the result you asked for. Google states that data sent through this service is not used to train its models. We do not keep a copy: the result comes back to your phone and is stored there. We do not send your name, your email, your location or your other things — only the material needed for that one request.
Google's handling of the request is covered by their own terms: Firebase privacy and Google Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions are sold by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. When you subscribe or restore, RevenueCat receives an anonymous installation identifier it generates, plus the purchase receipt Apple issues, so the app knows whether the subscription is active. This identifier is not your name and is not linked to your identity. We never see your payment card: that is handled entirely by Apple.
See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's.
Manua records coarse usage events — that a screen was opened, that a button was tapped, which broad category you picked during setup — so we can tell where the app is confusing and fix it. These events carry no content: not the names of your things, not your photos, not your questions, not your answers, not free text of any kind. They are tied to a random installation identifier, not to you.
See Amplitude's privacy policy.
Manua is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. There is no account system, no profile and no way to communicate with other people through the app.
Because your content lives on your device rather than on our servers, you exercise access, correction and deletion directly: open the app to see or change anything, delete an item to remove it, or delete the app to remove everything at once. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or a US state with a comprehensive privacy law and you want to ask us something about this, write to the address below and we will answer.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
